The Portland Community-Learning Centre has a heavy focus on the basis behind what creates a strong, lasting community: gathering spaces for social interaction. The result is an accentuated ‘spine’ that runs through the heart of the community centre, visually and physically connecting each unique program together. The featured ‘spine’ has both interior and exterior components to further define its unique spatial qualities. Various gallery spaces are dispersed throughout the community centre as a catalyst for interaction.
